According to CAICT, during the 2026 Artificial Intelligence Industry Conference of the Artificial Intelligence Industry Development Alliance, held from October 14 to 16, 2026, the CAICT Institute of Artificial Intelligence, together with the Department of Electronic Engineering at Tsinghua University and the Embodied Intelligence Testing Laboratory, jointly released the Embodied Intelligence Development Report. The report was also released at a seminar held in conjunction with the third meeting of the International Telecommunication Union Focus Group on Embodied Intelligence Standards on October 16, 2026. The report is positioned at a critical window as embodied intelligence transitions from laboratory validation to large-scale application, focusing on new changes and new challenges in industrial development over the past year. It conducts a systematic analysis from dimensions including clarifying the concepts of physical AI and embodied intelligence, sober reflection amid the industrial boom, defining the four-element framework of embodied intelligence, analyzing the path evolution and business models from "performance" to "application," and progress in evaluation systems and international standards. Finally, it looks ahead to future development in four aspects: reconstruction of the technical architecture, deepening of application scenarios, improvement of the evaluation system, and construction of safety and ethics.
