The report of the Hong Kong Hung Fook Court Fire Independent Committee is expected to be completed by the end of October.

According to a news announcement from the Hong Kong SAR government, the independent committee established in response to the fire at Wong Fuk Court in Tai Po stated today that it has received the Chief Executive's approval to extend the deadline for submitting its report. The committee is currently continuing to process written evidence and other information received gradually, and has begun drafting the report. The matters covered by the committee's terms of reference are numerous and complex, involving many parties. The committee needs to make judgments and conclusions based on facts regarding the issues raised within its terms of reference and to make recommendations; therefore, it requires additional time to analyze and study the extensive materials submitted by various parties. In light of this, the committee has requested the Chief Executive to allow an extension for the submission of the report, which has been approved. According to the latest work progress, the committee expects to complete its work and submit the report to the Chief Executive by the end of October.
