The United Nations adds funds to respond to the Ebola outbreak.

Thomas Fletcher, the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, stated on the 14th that the Ebola virus is gaining ground in Congo. The UN will allocate an additional $30.5 million, increase the number of staff, and expand its response to the epidemic. On the 14th, Fletcher chaired an emergency meeting of the UN's Inter-Agency Standing Committee. In his statement that day, he said this Ebola outbreak is the fastest spreading on record, with one person dying every 30 minutes from this outbreak.
