As AI integrates into daily life, the appetite for computing power is astonishing: a "ten-thousand-card cluster" consumes at least 200,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity in a day. According to estimates, by 2030, the nationwide electricity consumption for computing power will reach 800 billion kilowatt-hours. The future of artificial intelligence is not just a competition of computing power, but also a race for electricity. Computing power is sprinting ahead, while green energy provides support. By the end of June, China's installed capacity for non-fossil energy generation reached 2.52 billion kilowatts, accounting for 62.4% of the total installed capacity. Almost all of the new electricity demand in the country is met by green energy. Within the eight major hubs of the Eastern Data and Western Computing project, the green energy usage rate of large green computing power clusters continues to rise. In places like Hohhot in Inner Mongolia and Qingyang in Gansu, the share of green energy consumption in newly built data centers has exceeded 80%, and 172 computing power centers nationwide have passed the green low-carbon 4A certification. Now, the Eastern Data and Western Computing project has mobilized over one trillion yuan in social investment, effectively addressing the issues of high energy consumption in computing power and fluctuations in new energy generation; the foundation of green energy is uplifting China's global competitiveness in AI.
