The National Development and Reform Commission and the National Energy Administration have issued the "14th Five-Year Plan for the Development of the Coal Industry." It mentions consolidating and expanding the construction achievements of the two major coalbed methane industrial bases in the Qinshui Basin and the eastern part of the Ordos Basin, implementing work plans for increasing reserves and production in key areas of coalbed methane, stabilizing production in mature blocks at shallow and mid-levels, and promoting rapid production in deep coalbed methane blocks. It advocates for the joint extraction of gas from coal mine wells, increasing surface pre-extraction efforts, and improving the concentration and stability of gas extraction underground. It emphasizes strengthening the full concentration utilization of gas and developing suitable methods for power generation and heating according to local conditions. The plan aims to steadily advance methane emission control in the coal industry.
