Immigration Disputes Intensify, Spain Implements Countermeasures Against Italy
Due to Italy's refusal to lift the border control measures initiated against Spain in response to the "migrant surge" crisis in Ceuta, the Spanish government has announced it will implement entry checks on travelers from Italy. According to a decree issued by the Spanish government, starting at midnight on the 8th, Spain will carry out random inspections of travelers arriving from Italy at ports and airports. This measure is set to remain in force until September 7th. The reason given by Spain is that Italy is facing immense pressure from the influx of illegal immigrants. When inspecting travelers from Italy, Spanish law enforcement will verify their identity and nationality information; for third-country nationals, their visas or residence permits will be checked.
