After Deutsche Telekom, Europes largest telecommunications operator, announced second-quarter results in line with expectations, it increased its stock repurchase plan for 2026 by up to 3 billion. Deutsche Telekom stated in a press release on Thursday that the board approved the repurchase plan at a meeting on August 6, aimed at addressing the company's sluggish stock price; with this additional buyback, the total repurchase for the year could reach up to 5 billion. In the second quarter, Deutsche Telekom's revenue grew by 4.4%, reaching 29.9 billion; the analysts average forecast was 30 billion. Benefiting from its majority stake in T-Mobile USA, Deutsche Telekom has performed better than its European peers in recent years, offsetting competitive pressures in Germany and across Europe. Supported by T-Mobile US's operational performance, the company raised its full-year guidance for post-lease free cash flow from over 19.8 billion to approximately 20 billion. The company noted that it had completed about 1.2 billion of stock repurchases according to its previously announced buyback plan by 2026. Deutsche Telekom's stock price has fallen by about 1% so far this year.
