The pilot reform for parking fees calculated by the minute is accelerating its implementation. On August 3, 2026, a parking lot in downtown Hefei launched this pilot program, with small cars being charged no fee for the first 15 minutes, followed by a rate of 0.06 yuan per minute thereafter. Prior to this, Hefei High-tech Zone and Feixi County had already trialed precise charging methods. According to The Paper on August 4, the pilot parking lot at Tongwang Intersection is located at the intersection of Tongling Road and Wangjiang East Road in Baohua District. It integrates parking, charging, and the automotive aftermarket, and is surrounded by schools, apartments, a steel trading center, among other facilities. It caters to diverse needs such as student drop-offs and pickups, temporary business parking, and long-term residential parking during the night. The pilot aims to provide a more flexible charging method for groups requiring short-term parking, such as temporary errands and student transportation, guiding vehicles to park and leave quickly, enhancing parking space turnover efficiency, and testing the applicability of precise charging rules across different customer groups and time periods.
