A poisoning incident occurred at a pickled vegetable pit in Haicheng, Liaoning, resulting in the death of four people. The investigation report has been released.
On June 15, 2025, four individuals fainted while a farmer was cleaning a pickled vegetable pit in the Wang community of Xinghai Street, Haicheng City. Unfortunately, they died after being rescued and treated without success, resulting in a direct economic loss of approximately 660,000 yuan. The Liaoning Anshan Emergency Management Bureau released an investigation report on August 3, which indicated that the investigation team determined that the 615 poisoning and asphyxiation accident in Anshan Haicheng was a production safety responsibility accident. This incident was caused by personnel entering the pickled vegetable pit for work without taking safety precautions as mandated by confined space work safety regulations, leading to poisoning and asphyxiation, with blind rescue efforts exacerbating the incident. The investigation report recommended that the Haicheng City Market Supervision Administration and the Xinghai Street Office be required to submit a thorough written self-criticism to the Haicheng City Committee and the City Government.
