The UK-based maritime analysis company Ward said in a post on social media on the 23rd that satellite image analysis indicated that two oil tankers near the Strait of Hormuz were suspected to have leaked oil, forming an oil slick drifting towards the coast of Iran's Larak Island and Qeshm Island. Ward said that the oil tanker involved on the east side is the "Kawamalas" that caught fire near the Strait of Hormuz on the 20th. Analysis suggests that, given the ship was empty at the time, the leaked substance may be ship fuel rather than crude oil or other cargo.
