The news states that three major DRAM manufacturers have abandoned the commercialization of first-party CXL memory controllers.
The three major DRAM original manufacturers Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, and Micron have all abandoned the commercialization of first-party CXL memory controllers. Originally, the DRAM manufacturers planned to ship CXL memory as a complete module of DRAM + controller, increasing integration and profitability through self-developed controllers. However, data center customers downstream prefer to lower costs by theoretically reducing costs through a self-assembled model, by separately purchasing DIMM memory modules and CXL controllers and then combining them into a complete add-in card.
