The Ministry of Natural Resources has initiated a level II response to geological disaster prevention in Chongqing.

On July 17, a mountain collapse occurred in Pengshui, Chongqing. The Ministry of Natural Resources initiated a Level III response to geological disasters at 10:00 on July 17, and dispatched a working group to the scene to guide emergency rescue operations. At 12:00, the Ministry of Natural Resources upgraded the response to Level II. The Ministry of Natural Resources requested that the Chongqing Municipal Planning and Natural Resources Bureau immediately send an expert working group to the scene to assist in personnel search and rescue, technical support during emergency rescue operations, and take preventive measures for similar geological disasters including inspection, monitoring, warning and response. The China Geological Survey and the Geological Disaster Technical Guidance Center of the Ministry of Natural Resources strengthened expert dispatch, organization, coordination, consultation and research, and fully supported and guided technical support work.
