An internal memo shows that UBS has hired former Goldman Sachs managing director Takehiro Sakuramoto to rebuild its business layout in the Japanese corporate bond market. Takehiro Sakuramoto joined UBS's local investment banking department in Japan on Thursday as the head of the Japanese fixed income capital markets. A spokesperson stated that UBS will strive to underwrite business entrusted with issuing bonds by Japanese companies, with an initial focus on foreign currency-denominated bonds. This is the latest move in a series of recent senior management hires by UBS in Japan. Takehiro Sakuramoto is at least the fourth senior Goldman Sachs professional to join UBS Securities Japan in the past 10 months. He previously oversaw Goldman Sachs' Tokyo fixed income capital markets business. This is also his second time joining UBS, as he had previously worked in the early stages of his career in the UBS capital markets team, as well as at Morgan Stanley.
