According to industry insiders, on Wednesday, South Korea's LG Energy Solution will supply batteries for Google's largest solar and energy storage project. This move signifies the company's further expansion into energy infrastructure business related to the increasing power demands of AI data centers. Google and renewable energy developer Cypress Creek Energy jointly announced the "Steel River Energy Center" project in Arkansas. The project will initially include 1.6 gigawatts (GW) of solar power generation capacity and about 2 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of battery storage system; by 2029, the scale will expand to 2.5 gigawatts of solar power generation and 2.9 GWh of storage capacity. LG Energy Solution is expected to supply its JF2 DC Link system produced in North America, utilizing lithium iron phosphate battery technology. Insiders estimate that the order is worth several trillion Korean won.
