According to a report from the website of the American Consumer News and Business Channel on June 23, PwC's accounting firm forecasts that global M&A transactions are expected to reach $4 trillion by 2026, fueled by the continuing increase in demand for artificial intelligence. This would make 2026 the strongest year for M&A since 2021. PwC notes that so far this year, M&A transactions over $5 billion account for nearly half of the total global transaction value. The firm predicts that if the current pace is maintained, the transaction value of mega-deals in 2026 will increase by 40% year-on-year. Brian Levy, head of PwC's Global Transactions Industry in the United States, said, "2026 will be a year of mega-deals." He also stated that AI is driving mega-deals, changing the direction of capital flow, and reshaping the landscape of industry winners and losers.
