The Ministry of Water Resources has arranged and deployed flood prevention and defense work in southern regions to prepare for heavy rain and flooding.

According to the news from the Ministry of Water Resources, from June 28th to July 3rd, due to the combined influence of cold and warm air, there will be a strong rainfall process in most parts of southern Jiangnan, eastern and southern parts of Southwest China, northwestern parts of South China, and southern parts of Hubei Province, mainly heavy to torrential rain, with some areas in southern Anhui, northern Jiangxi, northern Hunan, southern Hubei, southern Guizhou, and northwestern Guangxi experiencing heavy rainfall. The upper reaches of the Wujiang River in the Yangtze River basin, the middle and lower reaches of the main stream, and the Li river, Yuan river, and Zi river in the Dongting Lake system, the Changjiang River, Le'an River, and Xiu River in the Poyang Lake system, the Qingyi River and Shuiyang River in the tributaries of the Yangtze River; the Beipan River and Nanpan River in the upper reaches of the Zhujiang River basin, and the Douliu River in the tributaries of the middle reaches; rivers around Taihu Lake and the upper reaches of the Xin'an River in the Zhejiang-Fujian region will experience significant rising water levels. In the area of heavy rain, there may be significant flooding in Changjiang, Jiangxi, and some small and medium-sized rivers may experience flooding above the warning level. On June 28th, the Ministry of Water Resources organized a flood prevention consultation, rolling analysis and judgment of the development trend of rainfall and flood situation, targeted arrangements for the deployment of flood prevention work against heavy rain and floods, and required relevant local water resources departments and basin management agencies to tighten flood prevention responsibilities, closely monitor flood risks in key areas and key locations, strengthen consultation and judgment, roll out analysis and forecasts, and timely release warning information; highlight the prevention of floods in small and medium-sized rivers and flash floods in the heavy rain area, strengthen warning response, strictly implement the five key responsibilities and measures of "who organizes, who evacuates, when to evacuate, where to evacuate, and not return without authorization", to fully ensure the safety of people's lives; scientifically dispatch the river basin water engineering system, strengthen inspection and defense of water engineering especially small and medium-sized reservoirs, dangerous reservoirs, and river embankments, refine and implement safety measures for construction projects during the flood season.
