The "Tracking Sustainable Development Goal 7: Energy Progress Report" jointly released by multiple United Nations agencies on the 24th shows that currently 655 million people worldwide still do not have access to electricity. The report states that without urgent and larger-scale actions, the world will not be able to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 7, which is to ensure affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all by 2030. The report shows that most regions globally are close to achieving universal access to electricity, but progress is slow in sub-Saharan Africa, where over 560 million people still do not have access to electricity and 970 million people do not have access to clean cooking energy.
