Survey shows: Ninety percent of the surveyed economists expect the Bank of Japan to raise interest rates again by December at the latest.
After the Bank of Japan raised its policy rate to the highest level since 1995 earlier this week, a new Bloomberg survey shows that the vast majority of central bank observers expect the Bank of Japan to raise rates again before the end of the year. A survey of 44 economists on Wednesday showed that about 90% of respondents expect the Bank of Japan to raise rates no later than December. 52% of respondents believe December is the most likely timing for a rate hike, while 36% think it will happen in October. When asked about the earliest possible time for the next rate hike, nearly a quarter of respondents pointed to September.
