The 18th Cross-Strait Forum Conference was held in Xiamen on the 13th. Wang Huning, member of the Politburo Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China and Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, attended and delivered a speech. Wang Huning stated that in April this year, General Secretary Xi Jinping met with the chairman of the Kuomintang, Zheng Liwen, and delivered an important speech, which pointed out the direction for promoting peaceful development of cross-strait relations and advancing the cause of national reunification, injecting strong momentum into promoting cross-strait exchanges and cooperation and deepening cross-strait integration and development. We always adhere to the common belief that the national territory cannot be separated, the country cannot be chaotic, the nation cannot be dispersed, and the civilization cannot be broken. We always grasp the overall situation of cross-strait relations from the perspective of the overall interests and long-term development of the Chinese nation. We always respond to the common voices of compatriots on both sides of the strait who want peace, development, exchange, and cooperation, and always adhere to the one-China principle and the "1992 Consensus," steadfastly taking the path of peaceful development of cross-strait relations, advancing the cause of national reunification, and co-creating the long-term well-being of the Chinese nation. Wang Huning stated that the mainland and Taiwan belong to one China and share a common fate. Compatriots on both sides of the strait should stand on the side of historical correctness and national justice, firmly consolidate the consciousness of the Chinese nation as a community, resolutely oppose "Taiwan independence" and foreign interference, safeguard, build, and develop the common homeland of the Chinese nation. We uphold the concept of "both sides of the strait are one family," implement policies that allow Taiwan compatriots to enjoy equal treatment, are willing to share development opportunities and achievements with our compatriots in Taiwan, welcome Taiwan compatriots and businesses to participate in the tide of cross-strait exchanges and cooperation, and engage in the high-quality development and modernization construction of the mainland. Wang Huning stated that a strong and unified China is a blessing for the Chinese nation and a fortune for all Chinese children. The Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China outlined a magnificent blueprint for the development of the "15th Five-Year Plan" period, which will open up broad space for the development of cross-strait relations. Compatriots on both sides of the strait and young people on both sides should enhance their identity with the Chinese nation, Chinese culture, and the great motherland, strengthen the courage and determination to be upright Chinese people, and work together to create a better future for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and continue to write a new brilliant chapter in the history of the Chinese nation. Zhang Ronggong, Vice Chairman of the Kuomintang, stated in his speech that compatriots on both sides of the strait belong to the Chinese nation, are of the same origin, and are all one family. Taiwanese are truly Chinese people with dignity. We look forward to further deepening cross-strait exchanges and cooperation, enhancing the well-being of people on both sides of the strait, jointly safeguarding peace in the Taiwan Strait, and jointly planning the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
