Wisdom Financial News APP learned that on Wednesday, Amazon (AMZN.US) announced that its less-than-truckload (LTL) freight service, which was previously limited to inbound transportation to Amazon's own warehouses, will now be expanded to any type of commercial destination within the United States - including third-party warehouses, distribution centers, and retail partners. Following this announcement, traditional less-than-truckload freight sector saw a sharp sell-off, with Old Dominion Freight Line (ODFL.US) and FedEx Freight (FDXF.US) falling by about 6% before the market opened, and Saia (SAIA.US) dropping by nearly 8%. The logistics system of technology-driven retail giants is transitioning from self-use to open to the entire society, and the less-than-truckload freight sector, which has long been monopolized by a few companies, is undergoing a transformation that many have underestimated.
