The Ministry of Natural Resources released the "2026 China Ocean Economic Development Index" today. The index is based on 2015, with a base index value of 100. The index shows that in 2025, the China Ocean Economic Development Index was 128.8, an increase of 2.2% from the previous year. In 2025, China's ocean economy has reached a new level, with development benefits improving. The national ocean GDP reached 11 trillion yuan, an increase of 5.5% from the previous year. The value added of emerging marine industries increased by 7.3% compared to the previous year, with their proportion in the total ocean GDP continuously rising. The resource conservation and utilization index was 125.9, an increase of 1.9% from the previous year. The proportion of nearshore waters with good quality was 84.9%, and the per capita consumption of marine products increased by 1.0 kilograms compared to the previous year. Island tourism, cruise tourism, water sports and other formats have become new hotspots.
