The Bank of Japan stated in a statement on Wednesday: "The governor is currently hospitalized for treatment of a liver cyst infection. The expected hospitalization time is about two weeks." The Bank of Japan also added that during the policy meeting held on June 15-16, Deputy Governor Masayoshi Amamiya will serve as acting chairman, while Deputy Governor Shinichi Uchida will host the post-meeting press conference.
