State Council Taiwan Affairs Office: The DPP authorities' smearing of the Straits Forum exposes the essence of "false democracy, true dictatorship."
On June 10th, the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office held a routine press conference. A reporter asked about the upcoming 18th Cross-Strait Forum. The Taiwan Mainland Affairs Council said, "The Cross-Strait Forum is a united front platform for the mainland", and this year further restrictions have been expanded, with county and city government officials and public servants not allowed to attend related activities. The public opinion in Taiwan believes that simply banning cross-strait exchanges based on a document makes people feel threatened. What is your comment on this issue? Spokesperson Zhang Han responded by saying that the Cross-Strait Forum is a grassroots, broad-based platform for people-to-people exchanges between the two sides, which plays an important and positive role in promoting exchanges and cooperation in various fields between the two sides, and enhancing the welfare of compatriots, and is widely welcomed by compatriots on both sides of the strait. The DPP authorities, out of their stubborn "Taiwan independence" stance, ignore the wishes of the people and the needs of local development, and have no willingness or ability to handle cross-strait relations well. For their own political gain, they slander and discredit the Cross-Strait Forum, undermine cross-strait exchanges and cooperation, restrict the freedom of movement and speech of the Taiwanese people, seriously damage the interests and welfare of compatriots on the island, and their actions fully expose their nature of "false democracy and true dictatorship". Compatriots on both sides of the strait are one family, and the trend of getting closer and closer, getting closer and closer, is unstoppable by any force.
