During the largest IPO in history that SpaceX is conducting, CEO Elon Musk detailed the initial version of the artificial intelligence data center satellite that the company plans to build. In a 30-minute video shared on the social media platform X, Musk discussed SpaceX's future plans, including the continued development of Starship and the joint construction of a superchip factory in the United States with Tesla. Musk presented a rendering of the satellite named AI1 and its specifications. SpaceX plans to assemble a network of approximately one million AI satellites to perform complex artificial intelligence computing tasks in Earth's orbit. Musk stated that the AI1 satellite will be equipped with a giant solar panel with a wingspan of 70 meters, capable of supporting an average computing payload of 120 kilowatts, peaking at 150 kilowatts. Musk mentioned that SpaceX has accumulated rich experience in building the Starlink Internet system and believes that building these data center satellites will be simpler than Starlink satellites. Musk said in the video, "AI satellites are essentially a large number of solar panels, a radiator, and some laser links, unlike Starlink satellites that require very complex antennas. AI satellites are relatively easier to design."
