On June 4th, the European Parliament issued an internal notice to members requiring that a French search engine be set as the default search tool on internal office computers in order to replace Google and reduce dependence on American tech giants. According to the notice, this adjustment is aimed at implementing the EU's commitments to digital sovereignty and personal data protection. On June 3rd, the European Commission announced the "European Technology Sovereignty Package" proposing to strengthen capabilities in artificial intelligence, semiconductors, cloud computing, and open source technologies in order to reduce dependence on foreign technology suppliers and support European alternative technologies to enhance European digital autonomy and resilience (CCTV).
