The United Nations holds an event to pay tribute to the peacekeepers who died in the line of duty.

On June 5th local time, the United Nations held an event to commemorate the nearly 4500 peacekeepers who have died in UN peacekeeping operations over the years. Since 1948, over 2 million UN peacekeepers have participated in 71 UN peacekeeping operations. Currently, over 50,000 peacekeepers are participating in 11 UN peacekeeping operations, with 115 countries sending military and police personnel.
