According to Axios, last week, Weintraub and Kushner reached an agreement with the Iranian side on a 60-day memorandum of understanding, including extending the ceasefire, reopening the Strait of Hormuz, allowing Iran to sell oil, and negotiating on Iran's enriched uranium stockpile and restrictions on future enrichment activities. Trump requested two modifications to the text, while Iran stated that they will propose their own modifications. The United States is waiting for Iran's formal response, with sources saying that the differences between the two sides are relatively small. According to two informed sources, Trump requested that Tehran agree that any final agreement should include a 60-day deadline to complete the dilution of Iran's enriched uranium, but Iran hopes to extend this deadline to 90 days. In addition, there are disagreements between the two sides on the amount and timing of the release of frozen Iranian assets. A U.S. official stated that the U.S. has promised to release funds once a final agreement is reached and specific implementation measures are taken, while Iran hopes that some funds can be released immediately. If negotiations enter a second phase, a (nuclear) expert group, including Weintraub and Kushner, will need to develop a plan on how to dispose of Iranian nuclear materials, further restrict its uranium enrichment program, and verify its compliance.
