FAO: Global food prices fall 0.2% in May compared to the previous month.
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations said on Friday that global food prices fell slightly in May, dropping 0.2% compared to the revised level in April. The food price index, which measures the change in the average price of a basket of major traded food commodities worldwide, was at 130.8 points in May, slightly lower than the revised 131.0 points in April. In another report, the FAO projected that global grain production for the 2026/27 season would be 2.982 billion metric tons, a 2% decrease compared to the previous year.
