Hualan Bio announced that its holding subsidiary Hualan Vaccine has received the "Notice of Approval for Drug Clinical Trial" issued by the National Medical Products Administration, which allows the company to conduct clinical trials for a new adjuvanted split influenza virus vaccine. This vaccine uses an adjuvant system primarily composed of squalene, which can stimulate the body to produce immunity against influenza viruses. It is intended for preventing seasonal influenza caused by vaccine-related strains, particularly to enhance the immune response level against influenza viruses in populations with weaker immune systems, such as the elderly. Currently, there is no similar adjuvanted influenza vaccine approved for market in China, and this approval will help enrich the product pipeline, but there are uncertainties in the follow-up clinical trials and market approval.
