On June 5, Chinese Communist Party Central Political Bureau member and Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with Myanmar Foreign Minister U Wunna Maung Lwin in Beijing. Wang Yi stated that in the 76 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Myanmar, the two countries have steadfastly adhered to the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, shared weal and woe, helped each other through thick and thin, and set an example of friendly exchanges between nations. In 2020, President Xi Jinping's historic visit to Myanmar has ushered in a new era of building a community with a shared future between China and Myanmar. This year marks the first year of the new government in Myanmar. China is willing to strengthen high-level exchanges with Myanmar, enhance political mutual trust, deepen strategic cooperation, and achieve more practical results in building a community with a shared future between China and Myanmar, in order to help Myanmar accelerate its development and revitalization.
