The United Arab Emirates is planning its first multi-category finished oil pipeline, which would allow gasoline, diesel, and aviation kerosene to be exported through the pipeline even if the Strait of Hormuz is blocked. Philip Hurley, the Executive Vice President of Trading at Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, revealed on Tuesday that the company plans to build a finished oil pipeline to bypass the Hormuz Strait. The Hormuz Strait is a critical global energy trade route that has been heavily restricted since the outbreak of conflicts three months ago. Oil-producing countries in the Middle East are building supporting infrastructure to reduce Iran's control over its own oil export channels. Hurley stated that the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company is investing heavily in optimizing its supply chain and supporting systems, as it foresees that the crisis may continue long term, in order to ensure the company can efficiently and cost-effectively supply its global customers.
