The Malaysian national news agency quoted Deputy Prime Minister Fadillah Yusof as saying that due to global energy supply disruptions and rising fuel prices, the country is ensuring energy supply until the end of December. Fadillah, who also serves as Minister of Energy Transition and Water Resources, stated that current energy stocks can only last until July. Malaysia's national oil company is procuring fuel from overseas, including Africa, to increase reserves. The report cited his speech as saying that the global energy crisis is impacting supply chains, driving up logistics costs, and causing shortages of raw materials in sectors such as healthcare and manufacturing, as well as tight supplies of packaging and industrial plastics. Malaysia's fuel subsidy spending in April was around 7 billion ringgit, equivalent to $1.8 billion, which is ten times higher than before the crisis, leading to increasing financial pressure.
