According to sources familiar with the matter, top management of DeepSeek has informed potential investors in the ongoing 70 billion yuan financing that the startup will prioritize groundbreaking research in artificial intelligence (AI). A source said that founder Liang Wenfeng has pledged at least once in a meeting to continue developing open-source AI models while aiming for the larger goal of achieving general artificial intelligence. The sources revealed that DeepSeek is in the final stage of financing negotiations, with an estimated valuation of around $45 billion before investment. They mentioned that Tencent Holdings, IDG Capital, and Monolith Capital are close to confirming their participation in the investment.
