Japanese government debt reaches a record high for the 10th consecutive year.

Data released by the Japanese Ministry of Finance on the 8th showed that as of the end of March 2026, Japan's total government debt, including government bonds, loans, and short-term government securities, reached 1,343.84 trillion yen, an increase of 20.13 trillion yen from the end of the previous fiscal year, marking the highest level in 10 consecutive years.
