On April 28th, Alibaba's DAMO Academy, in collaboration with Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital and other institutions, developed a colorectal cancer screening AI model called DAMO COCA. The model accurately identified 5 cases of missed colorectal cancer from 27,000 plain CT images with a sensitivity and specificity of 86.6% and 99.8% respectively. This is the first time internationally that a non-invasive colorectal cancer screening method that does not require bowel preparation and is "patient-friendly" has been proposed. This is Alibaba's third cancer screening AI model release, following pancreatic and gastric cancer models.
