The union representing employees of an Apple (AAPL.O) store in Towson, Maryland, which is set to close, has filed a complaint with the U.S. National Labor Relations Board accusing the company of unlawfully discriminating against the store employees by refusing to easily transfer them to other locations. This store made history in 2022 as the first Apple retail store in the U.S. to establish a union. Now it is one of three Apple stores being closed. Apple attributes the closure to "the departure of several retailers and deteriorating operating conditions in shopping centers," especially the one in Towson where this store is located. However, the union representatives claim that Apple's treatment of employees at the Towson store has been worse than in similar situations in the past, making it harder for employees to stay with the company.
