US media reported on the 24th that due to the disruption of global oil supply by the conflict in the Middle East, the aviation fuel reserves in California, the largest state in terms of population and economy in the United States, have fallen to the lowest level in two and a half years. The Los Angeles Times cited data from the California Energy Commission, reporting that California's aviation fuel reserves were only 2.6 million barrels last week, down more than 25% from the peak of over 3.5 million barrels last year. The report said that as fuel supplies tighten, ticket prices are rising. Airlines are starting to charge extra baggage fees to offset the rising cost of fuel. Some routes departing from smaller airports in California have been cancelled, and some low-cost airlines are even facing the risk of bankruptcy.
