According to Xinhua News Agency, the Turkish Parliament voted to pass a bill on the 22nd, banning the use of social media by people under 15 years old. The bill is expected to be signed by the President and will come into effect six months after it is officially announced. According to reports from the Anadolu Agency, NTV Television and other Turkish media outlets, the bill states that people under 15 will not be able to register social media accounts, and major digital platforms must use age verification and content control systems. In addition, parents will have the authority to manage account settings, supervise in-app purchases, and limit their children's screen time. This bill was proposed by the ruling party in Turkey, and it is expected to be approved by President Erdogan. In December 2025, Australia began implementing the world's first ban on social media for minors, prohibiting people under 16 from using social media platforms listed in the ban list, with authorities dynamically adjusting the ban list as needed. Australia's pioneering social media ban has attracted global attention, leading countries like the UK, France, Spain, Greece, and Denmark to push for similar legislation, hoping to enhance control over minors' use of social media.
