Recently, the Office of the National Disaster Reduction and Relief Committee and the Ministry of Emergency Management, together with relevant member units, conducted a consultation and analysis on the natural disaster situation in the first quarter of 2026. In the first quarter, natural disasters in China were mainly low temperature rain, snow, ice, frost, and snow disasters, wind and hail disasters, and earthquake disasters. There were also occurrences of geological disasters, drought disasters, flood disasters, biological disasters, and forest fires to varying degrees. According to preliminary statistics, various natural disasters have caused 750,800 people to be affected to varying degrees, 6 deaths or missing persons, emergency relocation and placement of over 8,200 people in need of urgent life assistance, collapse of over 30 households and more than 90 rooms, damage to over 4,700 households and 12,000 rooms, and 48,400 hectares of crops affected. The direct economic losses amount to 1.041 billion yuan.
