Since the sale of train tickets for the May Day holiday, there has been a strong demand for ticket purchasing. In order to maximize meet the needs of passengers, the railway department plans to adjust the maintenance time of high-speed trains' "sky windows" during the peak travel periods and relatively concentrated travel directions at the beginning and end of the holiday. Ensuring safety, night high-speed trains will be arranged to run directly from April 29th night to the early morning of May 2nd, and from the night of May 4th to the early morning of May 6th on the Beijing-Shanghai, Beijing-Guangzhou, Beijing-Harbin and other high-speed rail main lines. An average of about 700 additional trains will be operated daily. The additional direct night high-speed trains will be sold in stages according to the direction, with some trains starting ticket sales 7 days before departure and the rest starting ticket sales 5 days before departure. The arrangement of starting sales 7 to 5 days in advance is mainly to ensure all conditions are met before starting ticket sales, to prevent the cancellation of train services due to adverse weather or other abnormal conditions after the tickets have been sold, which could affect passenger travel. The specific start date for each direct night high-speed train can be found on the 12306 website ticket purchasing page, and the railway department advises passengers to check the information on the additional trains in advance and to purchase tickets online 7 to 5 days before departure.
