On April 17, President Xi Jinping called Ismael Omar Guelleh to congratulate him on his reelection as President of the Republic of Djibouti. Xi Jinping pointed out that China and Djibouti have a deep traditional friendship. In recent years, the political mutual trust between the two sides has been increasingly consolidated and practical cooperation has yielded fruitful results. President Guelleh has long been committed to promoting friendly relations between China and Djibouti and cooperation in various fields, for which I express my appreciation. I attach great importance to the development of China-Djibouti relations and am willing to work with President Guelleh to continue to firmly support each other on issues involving core interests and major concerns, implement the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, enrich the content of the China-Djibouti comprehensive strategic partnership, and better benefit the people of both countries.
