According to a report from Agence France-Presse on the 16th, the Brussels-based Institute for Prospective Technological Studies found that the national security systems of 23 out of 27 EU countries and the UK "appear to rely on American technology." Researchers analyzed public information such as the websites of the defense ministries of these countries, national media, and public procurement records of the EU and UK to study their cloud service contracts with American technology companies such as Microsoft, Google, Amazon, and Oracle. The institute believes that 16 countries are at "high risk of being urgently disconnected by the United States," meaning that the US can unilaterally disconnect key cloud services at any time. These countries include major European military powers such as Germany and the UK, while Austria, which only pursues a neutral policy, is classified as low risk. (Xinhua News Agency)
