Moody's: Yahoo's exposure to AI is relatively low
Fitch Ratings stated that Yahoo, one of the old internet companies in the 1990s, faces minimal AI risks, "with relative resilience compared to peers that rely more on search traffic." Fitch upgraded Yahoo's issuer default rating from B- to B, noting that Yahoo benefits from a high proportion of direct traffic and a large base of logged-in users, with its finance, sports, and email businesses having repeat visits and high user engagement. The ratings agency noted that after facing challenges during the advertising technology migration in 2023 and 2024, Yahoo experienced a sharp rebound in 2025. Fitch also mentioned that the company's refinancing is favorable to its credit profile. In 2021, Apollo Global Management acquired Yahoo and AOL from Verizon Communications for about $5 billion. Bending Spoons recently acquired AOL.
