The No. 6 unit of the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Plant in Japan has started commercial operation.

At 16:00 local time on the 16th, the No.6 unit of the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Plant in Japan, operated by Tokyo Electric Power Company, started commercial operation. This is the first time the unit has re-started commercial operation in about 14 years. Tokyo Electric Power Company originally planned to start commercial operation of the unit on February 26, but due to consecutive malfunctions and other reasons, the restart was delayed by about 7 weeks. The Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Plant, located in Niigata Prefecture, is the largest nuclear power plant in Japan.
