The United States has initiated the process of refunding illegal tariffs, with over a billion dollars in applications awaiting processing.
On April 15th local time, US Treasury Secretary Benet announced that importers can now begin applying for refunds for the previously determined illegal tariffs, but the process will be carried out by the US Customs and Border Protection. Benet pointed out that the Treasury Department mainly plays a payment role, and specific applications need to be submitted by companies to the customs department. Currently, around $1.27 billion in refund applications have entered the processing system, and the related funds are "in progress." He stated that the timeline for processing refunds is not yet clear and will depend on the progress of specific audits.
