US Treasury Secretary Bezent expressed optimism about gasoline prices falling to $3 per gallon during the key summer travel season. "I am optimistic that between June 20 and September 20, we may see gasoline prices drop to $3 per gallon again," Bezent said at a White House press conference on Wednesday local time. According to data from the American Automobile Association, the average gasoline price this week is $4.108 per gallon, significantly higher than the level of less than $3 per gallon in the first two months of the year. Bezent stated that the price drop will depend on the progress of the negotiations to end the war in the next few days. He said that during the spring meetings of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank this week, he has met with several officials from the Middle East, "They all said that once the strait is reopened, they can resume oil shipments within a week."
