Broadcom and Meta expand cooperation to advance exabyte-level AI infrastructure deployment.
Broadcom Corporation and Meta Platforms, Inc. have extended their partnership agreement to 2029. The chip maker will provide support for Meta's initial deployment of AI at a scale of over 1 gigawatt. Due to the immense scale of this collaboration, Broadcom's CEO, Tan Hock Eng, will resign from the board of directors at Meta. Broadcom announced on Tuesday that Tan Hock Eng will serve as an advisor to Meta, providing guidance on the custom chip roadmap and future infrastructure investments. The two companies plan to launch the first 2-nanometer AI computing accelerator chip. During the partnership, they expect to produce several gigawatts of custom Meta chips - Meta Training and Inference Accelerators. As Meta advances in deploying AI data centers, Broadcom will provide XPU and related technologies to support the operation of MTIA chips. Broadcom will also provide Ethernet network solutions to help Meta increase the scale of computing bandwidth within a single MTIA server rack.
