Prosecutors from the office of US prosecutor Jenny Piero unexpectedly visited the headquarters of the Federal Reserve.
According to reports, a letter seen by informants and the media showed that prosecutors from the office of U.S. Attorney Jenny Pierro unexpectedly showed up at the construction site of the Federal Reserve's headquarters renovation project on Tuesday without an appointment, in what was seen as another new provocation in their investigation of the central bank. After speaking with construction workers, Pierro's two deputies were informed that they were not allowed to enter the site without prior approval, and were given the contact information for the Federal Reserve's legal department. The core of this investigation revolves around the Federal Reserve's $2.5 billion renovation project for two historic office buildings, as well as the few minutes of testimony given by Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell to Congress last summer regarding the construction project. A Federal Reserve spokesperson declined to comment. Pierro's office did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
