Nomination hearing for Federal Reserve chairman candidate Walsh to be held next week, investigation into Powell expected to conclude soon.
The Senate Banking Committee will hold a confirmation hearing for Trump's nominee for Federal Reserve Chairman, Kevin Warsh, on April 21 at 10 a.m. Eastern Time. South Carolina Senator and Chairman of the Senate Banking Committee Tim Scott said in an interview, "Next week we will hold the hearing, and Kevin Warsh will attend. We will discuss the economy, price stability, and inflation, as well as the independence of the Federal Reserve." Scott said he expects the Department of Justice to conclude a criminal investigation into a renovation project at the Federal Reserve in the coming weeks, paving the way for Warsh to be confirmed by the committee. "The next step after the investigation is a vote on the President's nomination of Kevin Warsh," Scott said. "I believe the Department of Justice will complete the investigation in the next few weeks, and Tom Tillis will vote to support Kevin Warsh."
