According to the report of the Russian news agency today, on the 14th, the CEO of the Russian state nuclear energy company, Likhachev, said that the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant experienced its fourteenth total power outage on the 13th. Likhachev stated that after the only high-voltage transmission line at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant was hit by shelling, the automatic control system cut off external power supply. The staff at the nuclear power plant responded quickly and switched the power supply to mobile sources and backup diesel generators within a few hours. Likhachev said that this was the fourteenth total power outage at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, and the International Atomic Energy Agency inspection team recorded it accurately. The Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant is one of the largest nuclear power plants in Europe. After the escalation of the Ukrainian crisis in February 2022, the Russian side took control of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. Since then, the nuclear power plant has been shelled or attacked by drones several times, causing concerns about its safety in the international community.
